• If you are registering more than one sailor, complete a separate form for each sailor.

• Many items require a response. The software won’t accept your form if you leave any required item incomplete.

• Some items, like dates, phone numbers, etc., ask for a specific format. Please use that format.

• At the end please click the “I am not a robot” box.

• Clicking the SUBMIT button at the end completes your form.

• You will receive an automatic e-mail confirming that we have received this application. Within five working days you will receive a second e-mail confirming the status of your sailor. It will be sent to the e-mail address of the person who is doing the registration. If you don’t see the message, please check your junk mail folder.

During that period, member sailors will be placed in requested programs/sessions in the order in which they are received.

On March 1, registration for non-members will become active. Non-Member forms received before March 1 will not be considered until that date.

All registrations received March 1 and later, whether from members or non-members, will be placed in the order in which they are received.

From the drop-down list below, choose 1 for the first sailor you register. If you register a second, please choose 2 for that sailor, and so on.

Each sailor will receive a PYC Junior Sailor t-shirt. Please select the best fit from the list below.

In what years did he/she participate in the PYC Program?

If you answer Yes, please contact Chris Morin, the Program Director, at (207) 899-2864 for a confidential discussion of the condition and what accommodations might be made to enable your sailor to participate.

The Portland Junior Sailing Program will make every effort to make accommodation. However, the Club may deny participation if in its sole judgment the Club believes the risk of injury to the child is high even with an accommodation.

FYI: Comfort in the water is a fundamental part of safe sailing. All junior sailors, regardless of age or number of years in the Program, are required to take a swim drill. Drill includes swimming in a bathing suit and shoes along the length of the junior float (50 ft), treading water for 30 seconds, and putting on a life jacket in the water. (Sailors in the Minnows program will wear life jackets in a modified drill.) There is a swim ladder that children can use to climb out of the water.
If children struggle they may retake the drill and coaches will offer support as needed.
The drill will take place on the first day of each session, so please plan accordingly: pack a towel, a dry bathing suit, and a second pair of shoes.
If this test would be a challenge for your sailor, please contact Program Director Chris Morin to discuss the situation (207) 899-2864.

Participation in the Junior Sailing Program must be authorized by an adult who has legal responsibility for the child, even if payment will be made by someone else.
Note: For phone numbers, please use the format (207) 555-1212. For States, use the drop-down list. For ZIP Codes, please use the five-digit format, e.g., 04101.

What kind of boating do you do? (Check all that apply)

• Please review the Program Descriptions on our web site carefully. Some programs have prerequisites and other suggestions that are included in the descriptions. NOTE that, while the STEM option may be attractive to sailors of any age, only those who meeting the prerequisites for the Adventure program may register for the STEM session.
• If the Program Director feels your sailor would do better in a program other than what you choose, he or a coach will contact you to discuss the choices.

• Each program shows the typical age range of participants. As they grow in skills and experience, they move up to the next level.
However, some sailors may not have the skills and experience to fit in a program for their age group. If that is the case for your sailor, please call the Junior Sailing Director, Chris Morin, (207) 899-2864.

• For safety and quality of instruction, each program has a maximum limit on the number of participants per session.
• We will attempt to show on our web page how many openings are available in each program at any given time. If you select a program/session that is full, we will notify you that your child is on the waiting list. You then have an option of selecting a different session if there are openings.
• All classes operate Monday through Friday.
- Full-day classes begin at 9:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM.
- Half-day morning programs begin at 9:00 AM and end at 12:00.
- Half-day afternoon programs begin at 1:00 PM and end at 4:00 PM.

Please leave extra time at the beginning and end in order to navigate the tight road to PYC. And drive slowly — kids are in the parking lot.

PYC has a limited number of Optis available for charter for race team participants, available on a first come-first served basis. The charter includes one of the club's newest Opti with class legal sails. The cost will be $500. No pro-rating will be done if your sailor does not use the boat for the entire 8-week program.
Check “Yes” below to have a chartered Opti. If none are available, we will let you know.

I understand that as a parent or guardian of a participant in a Race Program, I am expected to provide volunteer support for the regattas both “home” and “away.” Support may include (but is not limited to) hauling race boats and/or equipment to a regatta or chaperoning my sailor’s team at a regatta.
If there are obstacles or reasons why you would be unable to volunteer for some or all activities, please explain below.

Please consult the tables below to determine the price for the program and session(s) you have selected.
• Use the Member Price rows if the sailor is the child or grandchild of a PYC member or a person on the PYC Waiting List.
• Use the Non-Member Price rows for all others.
• Opti Race and 420 Race prices are based on the full 8-week program. Some adjustment will be made for those whose commit is less than the full session.

A discount is available to those who bring their own boats. Please check the session(s) for which your sailor will bring his/her own boat.

Find the price for the session(s) you have selected and enter it here.

Subtract any discount for bringing your own boat.

You will receive an initial invoice after your sailor has been confirmed for your program choice(s).
A second statement will be sent on or about May 1 to those who have not yet paid.

Full payment must be received by June 20, regardless of which session(s) you have selected. For example, even if you choose Session 4 in August, payment is still due by June 20. Why is that? Because we staff the program based on the number of registrations; if someone decides at the last minute not to participate, we lose revenue with which to pay the coach and other costs.

When your sailor has been confirmed, the junior sailing program fee will be billed to your member account. The charge will appear on your monthly statement. Full payment is still due by June 20.

You pay by check or credit card. We accept Mastercard, Visa, or Discover. If you wish to use a credit card, call the Club Bookkeeper for instructions on how to make a payment via a secure web site. NOTE: in addition to the program fee, you will also pay the credit card processing fee.

If payment is not made on time, you risk losing the registration slot, which could then be filled from our waiting list.
No sailor will be allowed to begin the program until payment has been made in full.

A complete refund will be granted if the request is made more than four (4) week prior to the program start date.
A 50% refund will be granted if the request is made four (4) weeks or less prior to the start of the program.
A 25% refund will be granted if the request is made two (2) weeks or less prior to the program start date.
No refunds will be granted after the program start date.
No refund will be granted if a sailor is dismissed due to behavorial misconduct for violations of safety requirements.
In the case of all refunds, PYC will keep $50 to cover the administrative costs.
